Love this place! Food is great, staff is nice and usually get a table no problem. Have taken multiple friends here from out of town.

This is one of the places I go even when I’m not playing with Roger. I frequently stop in on my way back from taking Robert to work on Capitol Hill for a late breakfast, they will put arugula on my Swiss and mushroom omelet with lots of avocado. Coffee and juice and I’m set for the day! I will also add that although they don’t post m… read more

Our favorite neighborhood brunch …
Our favorite neighborhood brunch spot! This cozy cafe offers great coffee–try the flat white, an NZ original before it hit mainstream popularity at Starbucks–and fantastic meat pies.
Meat pie and a flat white, yummy
As a Brit I can tell you it’s hard to find a place that sells meat pies other than chicken pot pie (or shepherds pie, but with no crust that doesn’t count, in my book). This place does a couple different beef pies (my favorite is the steak and garlic) but has lamb pie too. Their salads are consistently good, and of course they are kn… read more
Great atmosphere. We came on a Saturday while a band called Alpha Dog was playing. 20 min wait but well worth it. Excellent food. Kids mac n cheese was overpriced as it was basically a box of Kraft but she enjoyed it. Try the savory and meat pies. Great fresh hummus too. Will come back for brunch.
Tasty, fresh breakfast offerings. Huge large latte (shades of “So I Married An Ax Murderer”). Cozy. … read more

This place is a hidden neighborhood gem known by most locals in the area. I’ve only been for brunch and they’re always packed. Most recently I’ve gotten the chorizo quesadilla, it was very flavorful but not a ton of food. The Omelets are also very good and much more filling. People seem to really like their french toast and flat wh… read more

Let me start off by saying that food in New Zealand is not particularly inspired. Cassatt’s redeems the whole country, mainly because it focuses on the bright spots: breakfast and meat pies. Also, the wine and tea selection are good. The big breakfast here is fantastic, and you get a lot of food for your money with it. The meat pies a… read more

Go-to place while our car is being serviced at Koons
We’ve been going to Cassatts for a while now – every time we get our car serviced at Koons down the road. It’s a good walk and their breakfasts are heavenly. Start with a flat white coffee. We had a veggie omelette, which was perfection. My husband ordered two eggs over easy, with their bubble squeak potatoes, fresh fruit and whole w… read more
A “Kiwi” cafe, with real NZ flat white coffee
Excellent food – really good quality and great ingredients. Everything is delicious. It is based on the style of cafe in New Zealand, which concentrates on fresh ingredients, different sauces/toppings like chutney, and combinations of food you don’t find everywhere in the DC area. Brunch on Sundays has a waiting time, lunch can be cr… read more

A very good brunch spot. My wife and I took my parents here one morning and after a 20-minute or so wait at 10 AM on a Saturday, we were seated. I tried to spend part of that time explaining to them the relationship between the term Kiwi and New Zealand with mixed success. We ordered the big kiwi breakfast, french toast, and eggs ben… read more

Let me start with I’m a huge complainer when I eat out- and I have ZERO complaints about this place. The food was amazing- I had the lamb and the half carafe of house South African wine. Serves omelets even for lunch on weekdays. Comes with fruit toast, and bubble and squeak which is new Zealand for hash browns. More like breakfast potatoes. The peppers are sautéed and the best peppers in any omelet I’ve had in dc metro area. Rest of omelet is as expected. Around 11$. Burger is half a pound and comes with a fried egg… read more

Very Tasty Breakfasts
Been here several times and I’ve not been disappointed. They servings are top quality, and plentiful. Service is friendly, and they check to make certain that their patrons are pleased. It’s not a large restaurant, but it is popular. Good place to visit.
It is a little cramped, but the food is pretty good. Parking is available in the back.
Wonderful place for lunch with friends
I have been to this shop many times. The food is good and I really like their coffee as well. I like to meet friends there for a quick meal.
Nice food, blah atmosphere
Met a friend here for breakfast this morning. Inside was a bit grim so we chose to sit outside – back side seemed more peaceful than the busy front although it was sunny and very bright and only has a view of the parking lot. Server was friendly but felt like he was hurrying us and not sure why as many tables were open inside and out… read more
Tasty and reliable
We go to Cassatts’ probably 3-4 times a month, for breakfast and lunch, seldom for dinner. Food is always freshly prepared and tasty, especially the New Zealand specials, including flat white coffee. Breakfast omelets are very good, as is the bagel with salmon and cream cheese.
Good kiwi pies
Funny seeing a kiwi cafe in the USA especially when they aren’t kiwis. However really fun people who do serve great pies and New Zealand lamb dishes. Have even taught them a few kiwi phrases that they’ll no doubt carry on judging by the smile on his face every time he served us.
The coffee here is so good! Love it!

I’d walked past this place many times on my way to Crisp & Juicy and always wanted to try it. Finally my wife and I had dinner there and we both loved it. Try the meat pie; it’s made with curry (New Zealand is near India) and it is excellent. A pleasant surprise.
Always solid any time of day
Cassatt’s is a place I’ve enjoyed for brunch, lunch, dinner, desserts, and for just a good coffee/espresso. I’ve never had a bad experience. I may have rounded up in my rating to reflect my 10+ years of enjoyment, but the place gets additional marks for being unique, having personally, while being near the top of its class/price poin… read more

Great place for breakfast or brunch, and they serve French press and cappuccino.

Small, North Arlington neighborhood cafe/coffee shop with an unusual speciality–New Zealand style meat pies and other lamb dishes. An excellent brunch spot. Over 50’s atmosphere with polite staff. Service can be less than desired during the weekend lunch rush, but you can tell they are trying to provide prompt service. I highly recommend the frittatas and salmon eggs benedict. Hard to go wrong with this place.
Cassatt’s is a local place with local art hanging on the walls. The menu is varied and reasonably priced with especially good salads and omelettes. The flat white is sort of like a latte. You can’t be in a hurry if you come for Sunday brunch. I’d choose this restaurant over a diner or a chain anytime.

I love Cassatt’s! The food is always fresh, innovative, and delicious. And the ambiance is lovely. One of my favorite lunch spots!
Neighborhood gem
This is a terrific neighborhood spot with a touch of New Zealand. They serve the best BLT in town — with guacamole and on sourdough bread. Lunchtime is always busy but the wait staff stays on top of it all and makes sure everyone gets taken care of.

I came for breakfast. It’s right around the corner from where I am staying. The menu is simple but with interesting options. I ended getting a mushroom quesadilla. It was good. The reason it didn’t get 5 stars is the limited menu. I like egg benedits. I like easy eggs. The service was spot on and had a great coffee bar selection.
A Little Piece of New Zealand Despite French Name
I will forever be grateful to Cassatt’s for introducing me to the Flat White, strong coffee with a thick layer of creaminess on top, better than the ubiquitous cappuccino. Cassatts is the type of quirky neighborhood place that is creative and delicious, with something a little different. Slightly pricey, but not ridiculously so, and … read more
